Mistaken Identity

Here is the book I picked up last Friday to read over the weekend. It's such a sad story. These two families were also featured on "Dateline" last Friday night. I laid in bed watching Dateline and was just bawling at some parts. I'm sure most have heard of these two amazing families who's daughters got switched in an auto accident. I will say that Dateline did a great job on this story I was very surprised. It was so nice to see Christians portrayed right for once. These two families have such a strong faith and is just evident throughout the entire book. They really are a wonderful testament to the hope we have in Jesus. I can not imagine going through what they have and to read how they just completely trusted Jesus and leaned on him the entire time. It was one of the best books I've read in awhile.

Louder Than Words

I read this book yesterday about Jenny McCarthy's journey with her sons autism. It was a real eye opener for me on autism. It was so interesting that I couldn't put it down she was quite crass in the book at times but also very honest. After reading it late into the night I didn't even sleep good because all these thoughts kept going through my head. Like my brain was still thinking and I was trying to sleep. Basically she believes that her sons autism was caused after receiving the mmr vaccination. He was this lively bright blued eyed boy before he received this shot. She states that she had a horrible feeling going into that doctor's office that day now she knows why. Her son had seizers shortly thereafter so bad that he would stop breathing and go into cardiac arrest. He went into a world all his own with a spaced out look in his eyes at this same point. After doing hours of research she discovered that kids with autism often have severe food allergies which greatly suppresses their immune system. After having this MMR shot their little bodies just go haywire and can't process the chemicals, mercury, virus' and whatever else the government puts in vaccines. Thus causing autism in a lot of kids not all but some. Through her research and talking with other moms she discovered that taking autistic kids off wheat and dairy thus a gluten and caesin free diet they improved dramatically. She did this with her son and little by little he started coming out of his world into ours. Also shots of vitamin b12 would help him talk. After making a lot of improvement her son began regressing a and was constantly sick a doctor told her that her son had the immune system of a child dying with aids. After consulting two doctors she found that her son had a major overgrowth of yeast in his body caused by leaky gut syndrome a very common trait among autistic kids. Her son had candida so taking him off all yeast was the next step he still was off dairy and wheat and will be off all three the rest of his life. After taking him off yeast he came out of his world completly thus almost curing him of autism. A specialist that came to evaluate her son could not believe that this was the same kid she had met a year before. He went from not speaking, not looking at anyone, having no reactions to people, not wanting to being touched. To this amazing child that could have a conversation with his mom, giving her hugs and kisses, and having relationships with peers and adults. He will always have some autistic traits such as flapping of his arms when he gets excited and a fasincation with gears, door hinges and things like that. Now I'm not saying and she said in the book that there are different levels of autism what works for one child will not work for another always. All cases are different and this was just her experience.

Why I write all this and was so moved by this book is because I have four great nieces and nephews. They all have severe food allergies and have all had severe problems because of it. My oldest nephew Racky is this amazing bright blue eyed little boy who is smarter than most. He has the sweetest disposition and is just a great kid. He has or has had in the past the leaky gut and a very suppressed immune system. It just really hit me that had he been immunized we might never know what an amazing kid he is or what his potential would be. He may not have had a severe reaction like autism but I also don't doubt that he wouldn't have.

We have the most merciful and graceful God. I am so thankful that God blessed Racky and his siblings with the great parents he did. God blessed them with a great Doctor and also the wisdom to not get their children immunized. I pray for them daily for the wisdom in dealing with their health issues.

I'm not saying that all autism is caused by vaccinations I'm no doctor. I just very strongly agree with Jenny's thinking that some autism is caused by vaccinations. In the 1970's autism was 1 in 10,000 cases today it's 1 in 150 those are staggering statistics. Each parent has to make an informed decision about vaccinations. I'm not judging any parent for what he/she has decided to do for each parent does what they feel is best for their child. I was just so moved by her story I had to put the thoughts down somewhere and here they land on my blog. I just kept thinking of my nephew Racky and it was all I could do not to cry at points. I thank the good Lord for blessing us with four great nieces and two nephew's!!!!!!!

In case you'd all like to check out my great nieces and nephews here are links to their blogs.

Reading some more:)

Here is my latest read I got it from the library yesterday after just seeing it sitting on a cart. Not all of the book I agree with but she has some very good information it. It was very insightful to learn how she became a child actress and how she had to stand up for her beliefs even when it meant getting fired from her job. What an example to young girls in Hollywood if only more young socialites were like this today. In a scene from "Facts of Life" the producers wanted Lisa's character Blair to lose her virginity to keep up with the times and also please the network. Lisa told them that she wouldn't do it because it went against her beliefs about having premarital sex. Although the producers and writers weren't happy they changed with script and it never took place. That's just one example from the book. She is now a homeschooling mom to her three kids and has a strong foundation in the Lord. I started reading it last night in bed at 10 and couldn't put it down I fell asleep with only two chapters left to read. Well I hear chaos happening upstairs so I better go referee in the war zone.:)

"A Mom Just like You"

Fantanstic, Fantastic book by Vicki Farris it is honestly the best homeschooling book I've read. Not that I've read that many but I can really see myself in her and some of my struggles in her also. She makes some very good points in the book a must read I think for every homeschooling mother. I also started reading this series of books by Beverly Lewis she is a christian author and these books are all set in Lancaster, Penn. in the Amish country. Most of the characters are Amish they've been good books to. Sometimes I think I read to much I don't let myself read during the day anymore I wait until the kiddo's are in bed at night. Except on the weekends then I will read during the day if I have time. If I do read during the day during the school week I get nothing done I will sit and read my book all day until it's done bad habit. So now we read only at night that way things get done during the day, it's quiet at night and I'm not neglecting my kids. Well just had to right my update on that good book now I need to run a few errands and get some laundry folded...the never ending task. On a side note I told Ben not to long ago we should go naked for a day that way I'd stay caught up on the laundry for at least one day:) Yeah we agreed it wouldn't be a good idea..but oh, wouldn't it be great to not have any laundry for just one day...

Book I've been reading...

it's called "Beyond Antibiotics more than 50 ways to boost your immunity without antibiotics". Long title and it has three authors it's a great book. It goes into why we get sick and what you can take naturally to not get sick. Vitamin C is a big one everyone should take it the stories in the book are amazing from what Vit. C has done for people. Their defiantly is a place for antibiotics and that's their point but way to many people take them all the time for things they don't even help for. It's been a very good read for me I started reading it in the doctor's office a few weeks ago and then got it from the library to finish it's very eye opening for sure.

The boys and I went to our local presidential museum today what a history lesson it was. Wow, it was awesome the boys learned so much. They were really interested in the Vietnam war for some reason so were going to start studying that. My uncle was in that war so I think I'll have them talk to him to about his experiences in it. That is if it's not to painful for my uncle to talk about I'll have to call him up. They had a real helicopter inside the museum from the war so that's probably why that part stuck out more than the rest. They had a large display on slavery to and Abe Lincoln's involvement with that which we had studied last year so it was neat for them to see actual artifacts of something we studied already. I think when their older I'll take them again you can learn a lot more by reading everything but of course what 10 and 6 yr old do that but they still learned something so it was a good history lesson for the day.

Well I'm off to fold a mountain of laundry.
