Boys...

As I'm watching the Today show this morning they had a segment on it about boys in school and how our education system is failing them. Hear is my two cents worth on that.. Number one boys learn completely different than girls do if our "fabulous" public school system understood this boys would not be so "left behind". They've taken away recess which boys need to release energy in order to sit for eight hours. In my own experience in homeschooling my boys they can sit and focus good for an hour at most before they start to get ants in their pants and start day dreaming. I've learned that boys need to just run every hour or so for just 10-15 min. even. Sometimes they don't even need to run just a break to build with the lego's or blocks for awhile helps them focus so much better when it's time to resume school. Number two I've learned is that boys can't just sit and learn from a textbook they need hands on learning as well. My boys and I have made brownies or cookies before and used it as our math lesson for the day. It's amazing while cooking or baking how many math skills you can really use. I am through and through a text book queen when it comes to homeschooling I need it for my own piece of mind but once a week I try and keep things fun like this. These are just some thoughts I had on homeschooling my boys as I watched this segment this morning. It makes me all the more thankful that we're homeschooling our boys. I pray they grow up to be God fearing men who love to serve the Lord and I thank the Lord that he's given them to us to raise up.

God's promise...

"And God said unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying." " And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth." " I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth." " And the bow shall be in the cloud; and i will look upon it, that i may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth." Genesis 9:8, 11, 13, 16

I took this picture when we were camping a few weeks ago. A gorgeous rainbow appeared one day and made me think of God's promise to Noah and us. It's such a shame what a beautiful symbol from God has been turned into in our world today. Let us all remember the true meaning of the rainbow.

Summer vacation

This past week we went on our family vacation to a cottage on a lake. We had awesome weather and a lot of fun. We went to the beach three times, golfed twice, Ben and the boys once, did lots of boating and tubing and mostly relaxing. We had friends come up on Friday and Sat. many staying the night with us which was so much fun. Because I love lighthouses I had to go and tour the lighthouse that was 2 miles down the road. We also took the kids to the pier one night and walked it so I got some pic's of them in front of it. Someday I want to tour the coast and see all the lighthouses. Hubby didn't think this sounded like to much fun:) But throw in some golf along the way and he'd be happy as a clam. I've decided that I would love to live on a lake and that I got used to it very fast. I loved waking up on a lake sitting in the sun room and drinking my coffee every morning watching the boats on the lake it was just awesome. I think it was one of our most relaxing and favorite family vacations.

The boys fished a ton as much as they could they would catch 22 fish in an hour off the dock it was crazy. They'd fill up their bucket with fish and then put them all back when it got full they were so cute. It got to the point where they didn't even need bait they would still catch a bunch of fish. We're not talking large fish of course mostly small bluegills, and a few small pike and bass. I even fished with them and I will admit it was quite fun catching the fish it was a thrill. Of course I don't take fish off the hook never have my daddy spoiled me there he'd always take it off for me:) Now Lucas or Kaleb do it and it worked out great. For my auntie out there you like the new look!

Here is Ben and Roman on the pier. It is my favorite picture of the two of them. It turned out a little dark but if you click on it and see it bigger you can see both their huge smiles it's just adorable.

Lucas and Roman at the beach we buried each other in the sand. Roman thought this was such great fun.

Kaleb and one of his many blue gills he caught. He ran all the way up from the dock to show us his HUGE fish he caught.

Lucas with one of his fish a small blue gill also.

Not so normal...

For those of you who think my children are normal you may want to rethink that... Here are a few pic's of them from this past week and these are just two of many. Since it's only Lucas and Roman at least I must have one normal boy in Kaleb..I just didn't get one of him..hahah. I will post and put up some pictures from our family vacation from this past week as soon as I get time but I thought these two pictures were priceless. The first one is Lucas wearing only one of many things on his head and laughing his head off at himself. The second is Roman playing with towels at the cottage. The look on his face is hilarious. He loves towels and will amuse himself with them for hours.
